Nokia N-71: Lovely, innit?
August 18, 2006 at 11:23 am | In Things | 9 CommentsGot my new celphone a few days back. Nokia N-71 that is. Awesome, I say. The previous post was an awfully long one, and am not going to bother you or myself with reviews. You can read how good the phone is here. And you can read how the phone actually is here.

The only thing presently which I am uncomfortable with, is that the weight and the geometry of the flip phone makes it a bit difficult to write messages, especialy if one is writing with one hand. This makes it difficult to message in situations like while one is in class, or pretending that one is sleeping. Last month, I exhausted my quota of 1500 sms in 12 days. Now I hope you understand why I am so concerned about this. Otherwise, I am in love with it.Demonstrated by the fact that I have only managed to drop it once in three days; my poor old Nokia 6630 (Got it the first day it was launched in India) in comparison liked to play more with the laws of gravity, and used to suffer the same fate at least thrice a day. Improvement, heh? Dad, has also sworn not to buy me another phone in the near future. Considering the number of times he has done that and yet given me a phone, I am not going to test my luck or his patience again. Or so I hope. Gravity-gods, have mercy on me. No, more so on the phone.
On a different note, the only thing other than constantly telling my parents how pathetic condition my phone is in, and that everyone will be getting a new phone in college; was to promise that I will get my hair cut. Big deal, I would even swap my hair with Rakesh Roshan’s wig for a few weeks for this. But I wonder what the record for the costliest haircut in human history is. Perhaps my dad now knows. I am not very evil . Am I? *Evil Grin*

Ankit, lets change the numbers a bit. 1500 smses, at 8 hours a day(Least amount of ‘active time’ per day), 7 days a week for 12 days gives us 16.6 smses per hour. Not much is it, if say I forward 4 messages per hour to even four people via the group options. Well normally the number of people is not 4 whom I send to, but I don’t send only four messages either.
Another thing that I really miss about my phone, will be all the genuine forward-collections :-( Had more than a thousand (That too after my my memory card got formatted sometime back….Sad…
Nonetheless, cheers to the Hutch Two-To-Talk prepaid top-up!!!!

Abhishek: Am Buying it in Dubai. Even though Dubai normally is known for cheaper stuff, they have no proper apple store and the hence cost difference wouldn’t be much between India and Dubai.
Leaving India on 31st, so should get it by the first week of september. Can’t wait….argggh
Will post about it, as soon as I get my hands on it.

Lol.Though suckingly enough, airtel has stopped with the 1500 free smses thing. Now they have 10p per sms.
Anywhich way. That is definitely a cool phone, but the reason I am somehow preducided against Nokia is because they more often than not end up making their phones a bit bulky. Both dimension wise and weight-wise.
That way I like my Samsung D600 alot, although it has some design glitches.[for example you can't even store residential address of contacts.Apparently the Koreans who designed it didn't believe in the concept of non-virtual socializing...lol.]
Though even with that said, about the bulk, the N-Series are definitely very good.Less bulkier too.
[Though I somehow detest the N90].
